Why Offer This Field Trip?
As educators who have traveled with students, we know that one of the best places for students to learn is outside of our classrooms. On field trips, students get the opportunity to interact with history, science, and math concepts with real world implications. They gain unique social skills and global awareness through their time in a different place.
And, best of all, students have fun! Students engagement is the key to meaningful learning, and we increase engagement when we vary the context of learning.
Please click here for Guidelines for Students (what to bring/what's expected). We will go over this with students as the trip approaches!

How Much Will The Trip Cost?
Our two-day, one-night trip cost is $250. We establish a payment schedule early in the year that asks families to make an initial non-refundable deposit that allows us to make plans with our tour company. Payment may be made in cash, check, or credit card (through the Online School Payments portal on the RMS website).
First Payment of $150 minimum (nonrefundable) is due Wednesday, September 25th, 2019.
Second Payment of $50 is due Friday, December 20, 2019.
Third Payment of $50 is due Friday, February 14th, 2020.
Please consider chaperoning -- we need you! The cost is the same for chaperones. Single hotel rooms are available to adults for an additional $75.

Will There Be Fundraising?
Wake County Public School System rules limit fundraising activities quite strictly. As a result, we do not anticipate a team-wide or grade-level-wide fundraiser in support of the field trip.
Need-based scholarships are available for those to whom the trip cost poses a financial burden. Please contact Mrs. Winn at [email protected] ASAP as these scholarships are first-come, first-served.

This trip will cost $20 and includes all you can eat pizza and a drink, as well as two hours of skating. Students can bring $1 extra on the day of the field trip if they want roller blades instead of roller skates. Please consider chaperoning -- we need you! You don't have to skate!
